Changeover night will be the 5th of July, at 615. It will be at Stewarts restaurant, however pricing is TBA at the moment, hopefully will know soon.

Social Night
The 30th June is a the 5th Monday of the month, Traditionally we have had a social night, visiting a local restaurant. After discussion we have elected to visit Golden Dining Chinese Restaurant.
Banquet menu has been sent out to members.
Kempsey Rotary Club
Allan heard on the ABC Radio mention of Kempsey Rotary Clubs fantastic efforts of raising money for the NSW Flood Relief, raised through a second hand book store. It is great to hear the success of Rotary being spread for all to hear!
Joint Meeting
David Uhe chaired the meeting and started by sharing some comparative facts about Lions Clubs and Rotary Clubs.
Lions have over 45000 clubs with more then 1.3 million members in 205 countries
Rotary has over 34000 clubs with more than 1.2 million members in 207 countries
Rotary was formed on Feb 23rd 1905 in Chicago by Paul P Harris.
Lions by Melvin Jones a Chicago businessman on 7th June 1917.
The Lions motto is “We Serve”.
Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self”.
As we can see there are a lot of similarities in the two styles of clubs!
Bassendean Lions
Daniel, Lions Club President, shared some information about their club, and his experiences of being a Lions member.
The Bassendean Lions club, along with the clubs from Ballajura, Noranda, and Stirling, run a Flea Market at Morley Galleria, every Sunday, from 7am to 10am.
The Bassendean Lions club also sell their Christmas cakes, sometimes at the Bassendean Markets, and also have a close relationship with the Bassendean Men's Shed.
Four years ago, when Daniel was DG of Lions WA, he was sent to Chicago for DG Training. when he arrived in Chicago, in the middle of winter, he was in a Lions polo shirt, shorts and thongs, and was instantly recognised as being from Australia because of his attire. While visiting Chicago, he was lucky enough to attend the headquarters of both Rotary International and Lions International as they are so close to each other.
The Bassendean Lions club have an idea for a joint future project with Swan Rotary, being a Jazz Concert in the Park. Watch out for more details.
Daniel has had a great time tonight, and would love to see this joint meeting become an annual event between Swan Rotary and Bassendean Lions Club.

From there, our Project Coordinators spoke briefly about the projects that we run at stan Rotary.
SJOG - Fred
This year, Swan Rotary embarked on a major Project, donating $39,500 to SJOG Midland, to help with Autism Awareness and to help train the ED staff to work with neurodiverse patients.
Community Garden - Graham
In Mathura Street in Midvale, behind a house used by Indigo Junction, Swan Rotary have set up a Community Garden with the produce from this garden going directly to DreamBuilders Care. We have been supplying for about a year and a half, averaging about a kilogram a week.
Liebherr Lunches- Betty
Liebherr is a German engineering company, across 3 different sites. They provide their staff at each site with a goodwill lunch each month, it is approximately 100 -130 people each lunch, and it is a fantastic fundraiser for the club.
Bassendean Markets - Bill
Since 2010, when it was the Old Perth Road Markets, we have been involved. Despite the setbacks of COVID, when it was safe to start back up again, we were asked to move locations to BIC reserve, for public health and safety reasons, it is held the last Saturday or Sunday of each month, and in Winter is a morning market, and summer a night market.
We have another market on the cards for the future, at Weeip Park in Midland, Watch out for more details.
An amendment to the last Grapevine
Sue recently went to SJOG Midland to present the next bundle of activity packs and small knitted teddy bears. Sue finally for to meet Vincent, the head of the children's ward. He was so appreciative of Rotary's Gifts. Sue passed on his thanks to all the knitting ladies.
